I had a lot of unwanted vinyl records which I didn’t want to throw away or sell so I decided to try painting a colourful creative mandala on some.

I gather some assorted acrylic paint pens in variety of colours.

Paint pens and vinyl record

I start from the centre and work outwards. Just colouring bands of varied colours.

Begin painting centre

Working my way outwardly to include little lines with contrasting colour. It’s so mindful and relaxing. Helps with just being in the moment.

Pattern making

It can get as detailed and intricate as you want it to be.the main thing is to enjoy the process.

Adding details

The black pen brings it to life as I paint in the borders of the coloured rings.

it is free hand style and not to worry if the lines are not straight. I begin turning the record around as I go.

I keep filling in the little extra details dots lines and flourishes which is so mindfully satisfying too. You cannot be worrying about anything else as you draw and create!

Then finally I’m happy with the end result which is proudly on the wall! ( handy hanging with the hole central)
