Fall Bench Makeover

We gave our tired mudroom bench a fall makeover.
We wanted to spruce our home up a little bit for fall and what better way then updating our faded mudroom bench? We had our bench for almost seven years so it was definitely time.
It is always a great idea to clean furniture before painting to give the paint a nice surface to adhere to. The wicker was no exception, so we gave the bench a quick wipe down with some white lightning and then a quick rinse. In choosing a brush to use, we opted for Zibra Paint's 2.5 inch angled sash brush because it is great for covering large flat surfaces and the angle makes it great for getting into the grooves.
You can see how well the brush works for this surface in the short video. We painted two quick coats of paint, waiting the two hours in between coats for this beautiful clay based paint by Country Chic Paint in the color With a Twist. The wicker was so dry that the paint absorbed it really quickly. Once the final coat was dry we sealed it with a flat top coat. My favorite flat finish is by General Finishes called Flat out Flat and it was perfect for this matte look.
Here is a close up of this spicy color which reminds me of everything autumn, the leaves and pumpkins and everything in between.
Here is the after, ready to bring a little of the outdoors inside and it looks perfect in our mudroom space.
