JH, we had laminate floors for over 10 years that went through teens and a husband not taking their shoes off at the door, dogs and grandchildren. The floor looked the same as when it was installed. I believe the ware of it matters in how well you take care of it and the quality of the flooring installed. Mine was Pergo snap together.

I also have had laminate for more than 18 years. It looks just as good today. Would not have any other kind. It is installed in the master bedroom. We are considering installing it in the kitchen also.
