Learn to caulk like a pro. Do have old, moldy, dingy caulking that is braking away from your tub and walls? I'll show you all just how easy it is to repair the old moldy caulking around your tubs in a matter of minutes. Maintaining a waterproof sealant between the gap that exists between the tub and the wall is essential in preventing air and water from seeping through behind the walls. Moisture of any kind behind the walls can cause mold and mildew. Recaulking is an inexpensive maintenance job that could save thousands in repair work.
Watch the Facebook Live video on How to recaulk around your bathtub.
Lift Off Caulk and sealant remover is an excellent solution for softening the old caulking before removing it.
Start by removing the caulk and scoring the old caulk with a 5-in-1 tool.
A Hyde scrapper tool removed the caulk with ease.
Then clean the surface with basic rubbing alcohol.
Now its time to apply the new caulk. Tape off the area that you want to the caulk to reduce the cleaning time.
You can cut the caulk tube with the caulk gun to open it.
Apply the caulk.
Smooth.
Remove the tape.
Allow time for it to dry and enjoy your freshly caulked bathtub.
Here is the caulk that I used for my tub area.

Thank you for sharing. I never thought of using the tape to contain the caulk.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
it looks perfect! I am not clear on where you are putting the blue tape. It looks like it’s in the same area the caulking will go. Can you help me there? Thank you
It looks so professional clean. Did you leave a small gap between tape. That you put caulking on. ? Then removed. It after you smoothed it in between tape pieces ?
My problem is being able squeeze the caulk gun. Is there one that is made to be easy to use? I have 71’ that I would like to recaulk. Thank you! ☺️
