KMS Woodworks Hi Kevin ..and anyone wanting to know about vinyl planking. Have had it over 2 years now, and am very happy with it. Well, recently I got more happy with it. KMS Woodworks Kevin I remember telling you I didn't like the matte finish, it showed the foot prints and scuffs etc and looked dull. Recently I researched what to do about it. Allure has a polish for the floor, one is a gloss. After researching I found I should have applied it right after installing the flooring. I applied it today and it makes a big difference. It is glossy and looks clean, I put 2 coats on. It is' one step', had I done it when I got it, some scuffs would have been prevented, but it looks very nice. I will keep it up. just FYI.

    This is good to know, Bernice. I have had Allure in one of my bathrooms for 3 1/2 years. I actually haven't had any problems with scuffs since I'm usually barefoot in the bathroom and I kind of like the matte finish of it. However, I'd eventually like to put Allure down in some other parts of my house that would get heavier "shoe traffic" and be more prone to scuffing and, who knows... I might not like the matte finish so much in those rooms of my house that have better lighting. Can you provide the name of this product you used? Also, please be sure to keep us updated on how it holds up and how often you are having to apply it. Thanks!

      @Shari Hi again, Actually they are not scuffs. They are foot prints from bare feet; now that I have polished the floor..i don't see the dullness from footprints ......now THAT is a win!

    Hi Shari..It is 'Allure Single step cleaner and polish'. Home Depot sells it as it sells the Allure vinyl planking. Different vinyl planking manufacturers evidently have their own product, so I didn't want to vary and thereby bring my warranty into question if I ever had to. I just searched for "how to clean allure vinyl planking.." lots of info. And there are always naysayers. However I found this to be much easier to apply than i had expected. I just cleaned the floor very very well, and folded some toweling on my mop head and dampened the towel mop and did the S thing on the floor with the cleaner, then mopped . Did a smallish section at a time.Waited for about 40 minutes to let it dry and harden then did another coat and waited again. I finally threw down the throw carpets a few hours later so I could be sure it is hard and dry.A nice glossy shine to it, not real shiny, but just glossy and clean looking. There are 2 kinds, but I wanted the glossy. I am sure it will be easier to keep clean now too. I will have to read the comments on the sites to see how often folks are reapplying it. but I can figure to do it whenever I feel it is getting dull again. We do not wear shoes in the house. So do you have wood look in your bathroom????

    I LOVE my Allure planking. I have it in both bathrooms and it has held up well.

      @Bernice H I think if you stick to one of the darker Allure colors rather than something light and rustic like oak, which is usually associated with the farmhouse look, it will look more modern and be fine. Although my Allure is darker, my bathroom probably looks "farm house-y" or more "cottage-y" because of the style of vanity I have used. I think a different style vanity, edgier, more modern colors and accessories would give you the look you are going for so you could still use the Allure.

      @Raslockwood this looks nice too. Maybe I should rethink this, however the kitchen cabinets and bathroom cabinets are that yellow oak, and we are not going to rehab them for sale. someone said this might be too much wood look, but I am confident buyers are going to redo the kitchen anyway.
