Hi Judy, I did a bit of research on this topic and was surprised to learn that some people used a garden hoe to get that pad up. I guess that makes the job a bit easier because you can work standing up. Other people used ice scrapers for this job. Unfortunately, you would have to work on your hands and knees for this method. Who knew? Also, I learned that magnets will help to get the staples up. I hope this helps you.Helpful Reply -

Try using à heat gun and a plastic putty knife to scrape it up. Be careful you don't want to ruin your hardwood floors.Helpful Reply -
