I love Ruggable rugs for kitchens and dining rooms. You can wash them in your washing machine! Which is great because a lot of food gets dropped on them.
A large neutral pattern rug under the the table to "hide" the transition
Turn the table sideways and put the legs at the edge of the carpet.
A large rug under the table will work well. Would be best if it were large enough to allow the chairs to be pulled out and still be on the rug. It can look quite nice and intentional and unnoticeable as a "fix" for the transition.
any type of large rug should work
could you get a table with built in extensions that would work in that area or a round table??
I would go with a natural rug to blend in like jute or a solid pop of color.
Be a little different look into:
floor clothes (Hand-Painted Canvas Rug)

If you are a parent you might consider clear mats to position over the rug you have with the endless amount of food that ends up on the floor.
I would use a large area rug. I just ordered large washable rugs from Boutiquerugs.com
A large washable rug, take a look at what Amazon has to offer:

If it were me I would get a large area rug and place the table on that. It would also help with the transition to the carpet.
Hi Sharon: I'd get a piece of carpeting that matches the one that's already there and carpet the entire area up to the island bar. Anyway, that's MHO :)
Good luck
I love your floor Sharon! And I would definitely put an area rug that matches the color tones in the floor and the carpeting. Just make sure the whole dining set fits on the rug.
Hello yes a rug-or even a hand made floor cloth —if you are creative might be used l
They have some nice washable rugs here in that nice grey color you have

I would think you would definitely want one that is washable, much easier to maintain
Just make sure the legs sit flat and the table doesn't wobble first, Then if all flat you could add a flat carpet rug under table, extending out to cover where the chairs would be when in use.
I would get a rug for under the table, but I'd figure out what size rug you need first. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rg_3zGkSAWs
Without changing your flooring, the best idea is to use an area rug.
I have seen some cute area rugs with awesome patterns on sale at Lowes right now. Looks like an end of the year clear out.
