When carpet is installed who do you get to move heavy furniture ?

The company installing should move the furniture as a courtesy. I just had carpet installed and they moved furniture for me.

Generally it is part of the cost of the installation. Generally they will move it to one side of the room, install one side of the carpet- then move the furniture to the new carpet area and install the remaining area with carpet, then put all furniture back in its place. Definitely ask and make sure your installer includes this labor in the cost quoted.

Most people look to friends, family, neighbors, etc. But if you have to hire someone there may be a company in your area that does labor and/or moving work for a fee.

If not, one of my favorite places to ask is on a website called http://www.nextdoor.com This is a site broken down by neighborhood, starting with your zip code, then your address. (You don't have to show your full address - just your street) We have 17 Next Door groups within our area and they are all connected or separate - which ever way you choose to use it. First get familiar with your group. Post an "Hi" message when you join. Then watch to see if others ask for help. You can then post that you're looking for someone to help you move furniture and ask if anyone knows someone who does that.

When I did that, I used my local group, not all 17. I couldn't believe that I had so many people answer. I only needed 1 person who lived nearby and I had at least 8 answer and say they'd be glad to help. It was nice because I met a new neighbor. :) Someone might offer to help by the hour and but I doubt it would be terrible expensive or someone might know a company that does what you want. I personally think that in this busy world people want to make contact with their neighbors and Nextdoor.com is another way to do that! Wishing you the best & Happy New Year!

I find that a good meal makes friends willing..hate to fall back on bribery but it works.we did this with friends..a floor sanding party.. When our friend took I'll he often said I remember you sanding that spot on the floor!I didn't think you would ever quit.I hope you find some willing hearts(backs) happy new year
