How do I get my sunflowers to stand tall instead of wilting??

Water. Sunflowers take more water than most people think. Or you can stake them. Wilting is part of their natural process. Once they do start to hang their heads, you can remove the seeds to eat or replant if the birds have not feasted on them! I grow them specifically for the outside birds.Helpful Reply -

You could stake them but what happens is the heads get heavy filling with seeds and that's why they start to hang their heads. However wilting would actually mean they need watering... When it's hot it's hard to get them to look their best in the afternoons. But something tells me you're referring to their heads leaning over?Helpful Reply -
