Wisteria is known to be a perennial only when put into the ground...a pot is a temporary fix for the spring months when it is one of the earliest bloomers.Helpful Reply -

Wisteria needs to be confined to an area to prevent its spreading into any nearby trees or other shrubs. Wisteria is a parasite.Helpful Reply -

In South Texas, it will cover an arbor easily and will show off lovely flowers. I agree the root system and rapid growth will be better in the ground. You can do some pruning to control size.Helpful Reply -
