I understand that tomatoes should be planted in holes where water is added then absorbed in the ground before planting. So , is it ok to plant tomatoes in soil tha is wet from rain?

Mother Nature hasn't always cooperated with our plans for planting garden, so yes, I have planted garden plants in wet soil so as not to be planting them too late. I try to not pack the dirt too hard around the plant though.

Thank you Tammy, I put in 30 tomato and 15 pepper plants today. The soil wasn't as wet as I thought.

I guess, it depends a little on the level of wetness. If you have extremely wet soil or puddles I would ot recommend it. Then it would be better to wait until the soil is a little dryer. Generally speaking, however, if the soil allows proper drainage and does not stay too wet, it should not harm the plants. Try to keep it a little more loose around the plants. Good luck and happy planting :)
