Could someone identity this plant, please?

I came across this in my garden today, in Wiltshire, England and wondered if someone could identify it for me?
q could someone identity this plant please, gardening, plant id, No flowers but no idea what it is

    This is in the squash family. Cannot totally identify because of the no flower situation. If whether prevails leave it in your garden and see what happens.

    I guess it is Physalis.

      @Laurel Lampson I thought so too! If the botanist husband comes away from election returns, I'll give you a definitive answer (NB 'eggplant' may be more familiar as aubergene in UK?)

    It looks like a Datura to me. If so the flowers are beautiful but the seeds are poisonous.

    Mi Portugal It looks like a Phisalis.I have two plants in my garden.In summer it has white flowers and yellow fruits like little tomatoes.We can to eat them.They are gourmet.
