I found this picture on a religious web site. The plant looks so exotic and the color of it's flowers is so vibrant.

@ Susan O this is in the family of orchid epiphyllum. I have many varieties of this family including a beautiful night blooming one. They are very easy to propagate by cutting a piece off and just sticking it into a pot. They like the red clay pots as they are heavy enough to support the weight of the plant. (I live in So. Cal.)

  @Jackie Cloward I have a few epiphyllums. I love this pink one. I think I will go on line and look up epiphyllums and order one on line. I have never used ebay and don't know how to. I live in Montclair, Ca., Jackie. My night blooming one likes to be on my front porch which faces east. These plants come from Mexico and South America. They grow in trees and produce very long leaves that can hang down about 12' long. I keep under my other ones about 4' off the ground on a potting bench. I like to tie the long leaves to the fence and let them get long. None of them even come close to being 12' long.

Maybe your favorite nursery can get you one. I think I will call mine this week and see if they can get one. Let me know if you get it!

orchid cactus ,,I had one for 3 years ..it never bloomed ,gave it away..you can make a lot of plants off one,,just break a piece off and stick it in the ground.... qvc has them

This is an orchid cactus, it is very expensive here but I brought mine from Europe and it's growing like crazy! The only place it grows here would be west coast because of the warm tempitures. I live in NY state and keep mine inside from October til late April. The red ones are even more beautiful.

Susan is correct. It is definitely on orchid cactus, aka Epiphyllum. It's a hybrid, so you'll probably not be able to identify the cross.

Epiphyllum, or Eppy for short, nice plant to share with your friends, just break off a piece and plant in a small container and watch it take off. They are beautiful.

Anyone who wants this plant, which is an epiphyllum and is German Empress, the best place to get cuttings is ebay. Just make sure you buy from a nursery on ebay specializing in epiphyllums because a lot of sellers will claim they are selling a certain variety that is rare, like German Empress, for $$$$ when in fact they are selling a less expensive variety.

I have a Orchid Cactus that was given to me by a old friend and neighbor 14 years ago when I was living in CT and now I am living in Va and have not been able to get it to flower for a few years now. Mine has big bright red flowers big enough for a hummingbird to disappear in. I hope you are successful in finding the pink variety. It is a very beautiful plant.
