How do you get blackberry plant to have sweet fruit?

You need to check out nurseries or on-line that will tell you which variety is sweet. I don't think there is anyway to "make" them sweet. -

It is most likely due to to much water effecting the nutrients in the soil,however what was the procedure you used when planting and how long have you had them -

we have had blackberry bushes for 20 years and get wonderful fruit. we always put pine needles and oak leaves on ground underneath plants for the acidity. Also pick berries immediatley after shine is gone. -

Sorry I misunderstood your question. The only sweetner I can think of is sugar.
