I lived in Jacksonville for couple years and now in south MS so I know heat lol. I usually dig my hole n fill with water - put a few small handful of rocks (fish tank ones are great) in bottom - put plant in and cover. Add light circle of mulch and water in mornings. Enjoy!!Helpful Reply -

The majority of lilacs need a long period of winter chill in order to bloom well. If you plant one, more than likely, it won't bloom. The trouble with having hydrangeas in the yard in Florida is that most tropical plants remain lush and green year round. Hydrangeas are deciduous, which means their leaves will fall off for the winter months. For that reason, they will look out of place in a Florida landscape. I think that in your hot and humid climate they may grow best inside in a nice pot.Helpful Reply -
