Most Hydrangeas take 3-5 years to bloom. Keep them watered and prune the dead back to 1\3 of the stem, cutting at a nice, every December.Helpful Reply -

Hydrangeas require full sun and adequate moisture for best bloom. If you are meeting these needs, the only other obvious cause of lack of bloom is improperly timed pruning. Prune the plants immediately after bloom, so that new growth will be able to develop flower buds in the fall. Pruning in the spring or early summer removes the fall developed flower buds, preventing bloom for that year. You can read more here:http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/archives/parsons/trees/hydrang.htmlHelpful Reply -

My Hydrangea's do not like full sun. They like Morning Sun and afternoon shade. You are correct: she is pruning off the buds. Prune after bloom time on most any plant.Helpful Reply -

I agree. They like partial shade and need water. Also try planting a rusty nail next to them. It will turn your blooms from pink to blue. My looked great after doing this one year.Helpful Reply -
