Advice on using plastic grocery bags for filler for container gardens

I have heard of using Styrofoam pellets at the bottom of pots, has any one used crushed up plastic grocery bags the same way, does this work as filler and drainage?
The coffee helps to control pests and allows the natural worms to be helpful in adding air to the soil, and to help in producing profitable minerals for the plants. it is better to mix the coffee with the soil very early in the spring, a week before your planting season. I hope this helps.
