A Country Cottage Kitchen Makeover

This kitchen was screaming for help!!! It was stuck in the 1970's. Funnily enough
a lot of the style from back then is very popular right now, but somehow I don't think this kitchen makes that list! Take the Tiffany light shade for example...don't you LOVE how it cascades along the ceiling then drapes down the wall? Just teasing!! Haha! Yes it's definitely in much need for an update don't you think?

There's a couple of things that would have made the space so much more aesthetically pleasing, such as stainless steal appliances, but we have to consider the client's budget. I made sure that they still worked well in the space. She will no doubt change them out in the future! Hey, they don't make them like they used to! She has had this for 15 years!

Now the fun stuff! We found a granite that she liked, then went from there! This granite has lovely warm tones, so it was easy to choose a paint color, back splash and flooring!

The tile we chose is gorgeous! It has lots of cream tones and interesting details and matches perfectly with the granite, wall and cabinets.

We chose a beautiful hardwood and the tone is perfect!

We bought an old doublewide trailer the cabinets are made from ugly grey paneling! Please any ideas. HELP

hi I love the idea of changing the wood look to the cream on the cabinets do you paint them or how did you do this ? I have wood floors and wood waincoating between the cabinets would this work for me?

Finally, confirmation of an idea I've had. My cabinets are painted a pale blush beigeish pink. I replaced the 1980 brown/copper appliances with almond/bisque ones. I don't like the white, black, or stainless steel looks. Now I know the glazed antique look will look good as I anticipated. I'm going to glaze a Lt brown over my existing pink beige !! So glad you posted this today !! But I have dark brown cheap China cabinets in the open eat-in dining area. what color should I paint my walls ? I am thinking just an antique white, or lighter. We have sheet linoleum, off white, that needs replacing. Am thinking of painting it, sealing w poly., into a limestone or travertine tile style.

  @Theresa Last Beige walls would be your best bet, depending on the tones of everything, you can match it up! Bring a few swatches home and tape them at the back to make a bigger paint swatch! If you could post a picture that would be good!

  Whether I redo the China cabinets or not, I want to add some color, maybe in some kind of French Provincial blue on the walls. The china cabinets I'm think of a distressed antique white or bone color, sanding to use original cheap dark finish for some of the hilights. The regular kiitchen cabinets I guess I could just wax to an antique glazed look. It should brown up some the pink tones.

Also, I have the Formica countertop that wraps continuously up wall as back splash, up to bottoms of cabinets. I think it will be compatible w the antiqued cabinets and almond appliances. It's white w a light-brown lightly marbled look.
