Make a fresh back splash with old ceiling tiles.

I covered the fake tile in my kitchen with fake bead board and needed a waterproof back splash. See how I did it.
Above the sink I used 4 squares. The ceiling tile I started with was 4 squares wide and 2 squares deep. The piece above the sink is actually 2 squares connected to two squares.
This is the first one I made. It is 3 squares long. It was sized to fit over the back of the stove.
For the one over the stove I screwed the tiles to 1x2s. I painted the screws black so the silver wouldn't show.
I love the way this looks hanging over the stove.
I covered the tiles with several coats of Deft Clear Wood Finish. This is a lacquer finish that self levels very well and dries very quickly. I use a foam brush and just throw it away when I'm finished with it.
