Free Bombay Accent Chair Makeover

This chair was posted in the free classifieds in my neighborhood last year and I knew I had to have it. The upholstery and finish had seen better days but the frame itself was still solid.

Ripping off the old covering
Painted frame in bronze glaze
Painted over the glaze with home made chalk paint and distress to reveal the bronze glaze

Back and seat reinforced with new jute webbing
Muslin covering for the seat and back. Both areas trimmed close to staples
Sprayed the backsides of foam padding with adhesive and position in place. Pick and pack cotton batting scraps to add loft to the seat
Cover with a layer of raw cotton batting
Sculpt and shape all the padding under a layer of cotton muslin and staple in place and trim close to staples
Cover the back with cotton print; staple and trim
Insert a layer of cotton batting into the recessed back and cover with cotton print. Staple and trim.
Cover the seat with navy Microsuede. Staple and trim
Cut out a strip of Microsuede and fold into a half-inch strip. Position upholstery nails about 1-inch apart and tack over staple line.
Finished chair paired with a custom drum table
