I love, love, love taking something that someone is throwing away and give it new life. I do have a passion for hutch tops! This little treasure was heading to the dump until I saved it.
I love to paint the outside of hutches white and the inside turquoise, it just goes together so well.and is always in demand. This hutch was painted turquoise on the outside. I did not sand it, I left it that color for a reason.
Taped off the glass. The glass was too hard to remove. Added some pretty little legs and chalk painted antique white.
I put on 4 coats of paint in a span of 3 days.
Painted the hardware silver then wiped it a bit to give it an aged look. I also began to distress it.
Distressing on the edges. When I sanded, the turquoise started coming thru just as I planned.
Close up of distressing. The shelves are glass. And the hutch is lighted.
Finished!
