Recycled Old Wood Dining Table and a "Chandelier"
My neighbor had a specific request, he wanted an old wooden dining table and a "chandelier" made from the same wood. Well, I was saving some old wood in my workshop so I said, hey, why not! Here's how I helped his dream come true!
The first step was to cut the wood for the table.
When I noticed that the legs were a bit too narrow, I added some wood to balance them out.
After a good sanding (around 5 hours), I added some details for a better look.
Then I covered it with a nice coat of Danish oil, and left it to dry!
Next step, the light fixture! This is a piece of wood that I had been carving, so again, I sanded it down really well. Then I applied a coat of danish oil and left to dry.
Then I gathered my materials for the light fixture. Screws, chain, bulbs, nuts, washers, and cable!
Next step was to make the holes for the screws and wire connection. I then added the chain and called in my electrician friend to make all of the wire connections.
And then for the best part- installing the "chandelier" (I love this word!), put the table in its spot, and everyone was happy!

The shape of the piece of wood used for your chandelier reminds me of an old weaving loom shuttle. I believe the larger hollow ones were sometimes referred to as cotton mill boats. In any case, it is a unique shape for a light fixture!
