Vintage Buffet Makeover

This is one of a kind piece that’s very hard to find, but when I came across it, I just had to have it!!
The details in this piece are just gorgeous!
First of all, there’s no way I’m painting it!
It just needed a little pick-me-up!
Have you heard of this technique? Well it doesn’t work on everything, trust me I’ve tried, but I tested it on this piece and to my surprise it was just perfect!
I sprayed the drawer to test it and it was an amazing transformation!
The perfect color I was looking for!
once dried and satisfied with the outcome, I then sprayed the whole piece! Remove all hardware and mirror if it has one.
After about an hour, I hosed it down with water and thoroughly dried it, then sat it in the sun maybe for an hour.
This is the original hardware and I heard that barkeepers friend was your friend! 😂 it certainly is! I’ve never used this before, but will now!
This is available in Home Depot and Walmart.
I added these glass pumpkin knobs to the top drawers as there was one pull missing. I think they’re perfect! You can find them on Amazon.
Finally, I added gold stripe paper to match.
Here is the final result! I sealed it with a polyurethane clear spray from Home Depot.
Now it’s beautifully clean and natural!
You can see all the different wood tones.
Gorgeous original hardware!
perf little glass knobs from Amazon.
Beautiful details.
The curves are just perfect!
Here is the before and after picture. If using this technique, remember to test a small area of your project, it also may take several coats to remove old stain. Luckily mine only took one. Thanks so much for stopping by, I hope you enjoyed this post!
Happy New Year!

I found a buffet very similar to this one at an auction. I fell in LOVE and had to have it, no matter what the price was going to be !! I refinished mine, and did not paint it. It is one of my favorite pieces !!!

Next time try Antique Oil instead of spray poly! It makes a beautiful finish and nourished the wood !

Yes I will try this but it’s got to warm up first. What did you use the bartenders friend on. I guess I missed that.
