Dining Room Light Overhaul

In spring, summer, and fall I am a gardening fanatic. I design gardens and landscapes professionally and love digging in the dirt. But during the cold winter days, I tackle all of the fun home projects that have been waiting around. This is one of the easy facelifts I recently gave my dining room.
Remember these little brass numbers all lit up with their fancy, glass globes? I gave this old-fashioned beauty a much needed update with a can of spray paint and a new barrel shade. Here's how...
Remove the light fixture. (Remember to turn OFF the electricity and label the wires.) Carefully take apart the fixture so you can easily paint it. Cover the light sockets with tape. Hang the fixture outside and spray it. I chose a bronze paint.
Unscrew the loop at the top of the fixture. Slide a barrel shade over the wires. Thread the wires back up through the loop when replacing it.
Your finished fixture should look something like this.
Rehang your "new" updated fixture.
