How can I refinish my laminate cabinets?

They are peeling in places and chipping off. I would like to do all the doors but not touch the boxes, which are fine. How do I remove the finish and repaint or otherwise refinish them? It's a small kitchen but there are lots of doors. Thanx

Make sure they are clean and dry. Use acrylic latex paint. Remove the doors and hardware. Mark the doors and cabinets with tape where they go. Lightly sand the doors and cabinets to remove any gloss and roughen the surface for paint. Prime with a stain blocking primer like Zinsser 123. Then paint with your color. Seal with at least three coats with a water based polyurethane. Use a small foam roller and foam brush for a smooth finish. -

I did this in my house!! Just the doors and drawers were peeling so I peeled them all! (Came off easy) and left the box or wall pieces alone. I sanded the heck out of them, cleaned them good with soap and water and the vinegar for remaining bits of sticky. Let them dry!I then used a great cabinet paint I found at lowes and put 3 coats on. (Just to be safe) and finished with polyurethane! I added new hardware and they look spectacular! That was 3 yrs ago!- See 1 previous
