How to remove a tile backsplash from kitchen walls

We are doing a kitchen remodel and want to remove the tiles so the electrician can add and upgrade outlets and lighting

Elbow grease! Get a pry bar or chisel, anything to get under the tiles. Hit the pry bar with a hammer. They might pop off or they may break. I'd put removed tile into a cardboard box and into your trash later. -

First pray , because chances are your walls will be damaged do to the application of tile. Then you need goggles and some gloves for protection from some pieces that will fly off and I would wear long sleeves. Then you just begin to chip away with a hammer at first to just Crack dome, plus it allows you to see how well they were applied. If not much mortar great. You can try using a chisel as well to help save surrounding walls especially when you get to the end tiles. To be super honest if it were me I would just cut the wall that the tile is on since it's a backsplash,I assume, then it's not a super large area. Then reinstall new drywall this will allow the electrician access to the area and since they charge hourly this should save you enough for the repairs. Now you have a nice flat even area to do up however you want. It's a blankslate. And if you worry about installing drywall then hire that out but at least you have done the demolition which will save you a little something. If you retire pick a classic so you never gave to do it again although the reason this time around is not just to update but to add outlets. Tile is such a commitment.
