Hello. It is not so hard if you have the right tools. Here is a link to help you out.http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/skills-and-know-how/masonry-and-tiling/install-a-tile-backsplash

Some are more difficult than others. To sell a home we had to put up a quick one and we had never done one before. My husband found backsplash sheets of metallic looking tiles that looked real nice. They were made to look 3 dimensional but were actually all in a long sheet that could be cut to fit the backsplash area. They came in colors to look like brass, copper, and brushed silver and were very easy to install. Most home improvement stores have them, we found ours at Lowe's home improvement.

Access an internet help site for tips on how to do it. It's not brain surgery.

Home depot has classes for DIY projects. Hubby and I went to one for doing backsplashes, they showed us several different ways to do them. When we decided which one we wanted to do, the salesperson helped us find the materials that we would need. So easy and looks great.!

It would depend on the tile and tile pattern -how complicated the design is.
