How to Hide an Electrical Box

Raise your hand if you have an ugly electrical box you have to stare at while doing laundry! We have one in our laundry closet and it was a not pretty. The solution: hide it with an easy DIY.
Not only was our electrical box large, it was incredibly dirty. I'm not sure what the previous owners did, but it looked like there was green slime of some sort running down the box. I needed something large enough to hide the box, but also make it easy to still access.
Supplies:
- Fabric - I used about 1/2 yard
- Canvas that will cover your electrical box (mine was 18Ă—34) and I did a 2-inch thick canvas
- Staple gun
I used a 2-inch canvas to ensure that the canvas would lay flat against the wall and cover the box. The problem with a picture frame is that it would have stuck out from the wall and not hang properly.
To wrap the canvas, I simply laid out the fabric on the floor and cut to size. I then wrapped the canvas, using the staple gun to secure.
From there, I hung the canvas from a nail above the electrical box. For a more detailed instruction, and to see the full laundry room makeover, head over to my blog!

Keep it simple and clean . . . on Oct 20, 2017
Your laundry area looks very nice and neatly organized. I've had the same problem in a couple houses with electrical panels and trap doors into crawl spaces. I used to find colorful posters in frames to cover those websites which worked perfectly. -
