Fire and Ice in Faux Fireplace!

I like the addition of crisp white to the firebox area since everything there is black. The back of the faux fireplace is chalkboard. I drew a 20 second tree on the chalkboard. :)
Here's a list of supplies to make snow covered logs...because this would also look great in a centerpiece.
1. Logs
2. Approximately 3 large or 5 regular size white crayons
3. Craft heat gun {I tried a hair blow dryer but it blew crayons pieces across the table}
4. Butcher knife and board to chop crayons.
Use care when using the heat gun. It doesn't get too hot, but still use care. :)

The snowy logs are nice, but I just love your mantlepiece. So quirky and unique. I also happen to love spindles: I don't know why, I just do. It all looks like something I could and would do. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much. It's strange how we pick items that we are attracted to, like spindles. Mantels are not hard to make. Think of it as three boxes. Two are long for the legs and one larger for the top. The open side of the boxes faces the wall. Attach the boxes together, then start adding moldings and trims.

I love this! And you did a stellar job of explaining the process. KUDDOS for that, too. Also, your ‘fireplace’ is so charming and creative…and the ‘Christmas trees’ are just darling. Thanks for sharing.

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
How do you ensure there are no cretters in the logs? Do you heat the logs in the oven a few hours on low heat as I have to do that to Acorns to ensure to rid them of eggs that bugs may have introduced into the acorn so I am wondering re these logs too?
Thank you,
Suzanne
