Can't I put tiles over the stone like in the fireplace?

I would like to tile my fireplace, but I have stones there. Is there way I can't do without removing the stones?

Yes it is possible to tile over brick.

Just remember you cannot tile the firebox the tiles will crack and or break from the heat. If you need to clean the firebox there are products that will do that, Just Google it.

You need to use thinset. You can use thinset directly to the brick and apply the tile.

You can drywall over the stone with special drew. I cannot think what it's called.
