Using Paint to Create a Stunning Bespoke Bookcase

Last year on one of my trips to find vintage treasures ( read out it here), I found this old Mid-Century Modern bookcase. It was scratched and damaged but I loved its line and saw beyond its damage.

I wanted to give this piece a very special makeover. The word bespoke kept coming to mind and I knew this piece deserved the best with a bespoke paint colour.

To create the bespoke teal colour, it took several shades of Miss Mustard Seeds Milk paint as well as some layering.

To start with, the bookcase received a layer a the beautiful fresh green milk paint called Lucketts Green.

Once the layer of Lucketts Green was dry, dabs of Hemp Oil were rubbed on the edges. The Hemp Oil helps the second coat of paint resist and not adhere to the first allowing the Lucketts Green to shine through.

A mix of Miss Mustard Seeds Milk paint in Boxwood and Flow Blue creates the gorgeous bespoke teal colour that finishes the transformation.

Creating this stunning bespoke colour took this drab, damaged bookcase into a one of a kind statement piece.
