Vintage Couch Renovation!
Got a "great bones" couch on Craigslist. I was told the couch was from the 1930's and had been renovated about 10 years previously. I decided to try my hand at making a big designer style twist!
Step 1: find dreamy vintage couch on Craigslist for free.
Step 2: rip apart the couch. Dissect all bits and keep the fabric to use an outline later. The inside was utterly disgusting complete with ancient padding and hay. Like horse hay. Eww.
Step 3: remove gross color. It was painted a peachy beige. We primed it with a flat red brown primer (like 4 coats) and then topped it with a nice high gloss expresso brown (an additional 4 coats)
Step 4: reattach the springs to the new jute lining and hand sew the springs to the jute.
Step 5: Make sure all the jute and springs are lined up correctly. Then attach foam to back and seat. The back is a mixture of 1" foam and fluffy foam filler. The seat is solid 5" foam.
Step 6: attach the glorious Waverly Santa Maria Desert Flower fabric that I found on etsy!
Step 7: enjoy new couch! I'm moving soon and I can't wait to see this in my new space!
