Farmhouse Style Egg Basket-Upcycle Project

2 Materials

I have always loved farmhouse decor as its more cleaner, casual and family friendly. Recently when we renovated our kitchen, I used neutral farmhouse colors and added a lot of elements like cane baskets, wooden spatula, wooden cutting board etc as decor and ofcourse plants.

Recently my daughter who is 12, was advised by our doctor to consume more eggs as she was weak. So to keep the eggs handy and within reach on my kitchen counter, I upcycled a trash item and DIYed a beautiful, chic, farmhouse style egg basket This is how it looks.

Lets see how I made this.

Step 1: I used an old broken pan as the base.

Step 2: I had saved this egg carton from a packaging.

Step 3: I cut the egg case in a circle to fit into the pan and glued it inside the pan.

Step 4: It give it a more rustic, farmhouse look, I wrapped the pan in cane. You can also use jute rope. I wrapped to half the height of the pan.

Step 5 : I cut 2 strips of 3/4inch width and 16 inch length cardboard and glued them together, to make it stiff and sturdy.

Step 6: I then wrapped the cane around this strip.

Step 7: Now I placed the strip on either side of the pan and glued it down. This was the handle for the basket.

Step 8: I continued to wrap the cane over the handle till i reached the top of the pan.

This is how it looked when done.

Step 9: To give it more farmhouse look, I added a tag "Farm Fresh Eggs" and tied it to the handle.

I was very happy with the outcome and it looked stunning on my kitchen counter.

Hope you all like this simple project that I have shared.
