Spray Paint Outdoor Fabrics? Kick Some Color Into Your Old Umbrella!!

Full transparency here; I pulled this hack from a YouTuber named Ryan who happens to have the same umbrella. In the video, they restore the entire umbrella. Mine was in pretty good shape except for the fabric.
Check out this transformation below, and be sure to see the full post here.
Let’s Kick Some Colour Back Into Your Patio Umbrella With This Super Simple DIY project.
Your patio umbrella probably sucks!
Mine did, and I didn’t really care. I just accepted that it’s old and ugly and I can leave it or replace it with new fabric, which didn’t seem too thrilling. That was until I saw this awesome DIY with the same faded 11 foot Solar Umbrella.

Imagine all future spray-paint project possibilities.
Off to the hardware store I went, returning shortly after with 3 cans of Rustoleum Painters Touch Apple Red Spray paint in a satin finish.
Can 1 of Rust-Oleum 2x covered about 1/3 of the umbrella.
But, 3 cans down and I was pretty happy with the results.
The colour is a perfect match too. Almost identical to the original, so the inside matches well.
Hope you loved this DIY, and spray painting! It's bad-ass!!

I found spray UV protecting fabric paint at Home Depot the other day and am going to spray mine. This new paint is made for fabrics and from what it says is UV protecting so it should not fade as bad....will post when I use it and let you know how it goes.

Let me know how it turns out, my umbrellas are only a year or so old, and have faded on the top, I hate to buy new ones, so hoping this works…

I have a market style umbrella. I'm thinking of leaving the cover on the frame and painting it while it's tilted on the ground. I would only have to cover the wooden top. Do you think that would work?
