What is the best way to tear down a “flower bed” in order to make a new one? The main concern is the plants that were planted there from previous owner. They are getting out of hand and is covering the windows of the house. I’d also like to make a raised flower garden. Help.

After pulling all the plants you will need to try and get rid of the roots of the plants. A small tiller should do the trick. Till up the area and pull the roots. Pringle preen on the dirt and rake it in. This will help to keep future weeds out. Let that sit a couple of days before replanting

use elbow grease and dig them out. incorporate clean soil and fertilizer into the new bed.

I cut the bushes down to about 12 - 18” high, cut around the roots with a sharp shovel, or a saw depending on size of roots, tie a chain around remaining bush and with the truck, I pull. sometimes, I just use a shovel, grub hoe and 5’ pry bar with a limb saw or reciprocating saw with a limb blade. Either way get someone to help, it’s a lot of work.
