What part of the country do you live in? From your post, I am thinking that it is maybe in the Pacific Northwest where there is a great deal of rain in the winter.........What is presently on the ground?Helpful Reply -

O.K. your location eliminates heavy snow melt, and the underground freezing in the winter. Although you said you do not get much rain, as you already said that the area gets moss and mold, this shows the area does get damp. There must not be sufficient air flow or sunlight to prevent this from happening. For this reason, I would advise against planting any ground cover, as I can't see it keeping any drier than what is there now. You would also need to keep adding water to maintain it.For the pathway, I would put paving bricks, paving stones, concrete blocks, or similar, anything that doesn't grow, and doesn't need any additional maintenance. That way if any area did begin to acquire any moss, it could be hit up with an occasional dosing of bleach, which would not harm anything around it.Helpful Reply -
