This is not for fish,it looks like a stream but it's a man made water runoff.

check out rain gardens for plantings that do well with water. Edge with lots of natural rock, some tall decorative grasses, etc, so it looks like a naturally occurring stream, even if it's not wet all the time.

you could put in a dry creek bed and plant native plants around the edges...when run off occurs it will travel over the stones, but you will still have a planned feature for the dry season

    Use the plants for ponds

Why not make it look like a stream. Use something large and small rocks along the sides with some plants along it. maybe build a small bridge to cross over it.

I have that but only in Spring, I was thinking of putting in bricks to channel it from where it comes in the where it goes into the other neighbors yard. I live on a hill from south to north and from west to east. The west to east is the one that we get the water from the snow before the ground is thawed and can soak in.

Thank you for responding, those were all great ideas! Water plants and a bridge sound like something I might do. The edge that go's down from lawn to stream, should I put moss or rocks. I am afraid that if I put soil it will slip down into the stream.
