Thrift Store Swap #5 Spring Edition - Hanging Herb Garden

10 bloggers were challenged to shop their local thrift store, select 2 items, and send them to a blogger partner whose challenge was to upcycle the items. Here are the items I received:
First step was to design a project. Coffee bar? Storage unit? Craft corner? These bright colored baskets had me thinking SPRING! So how about an herb garden?
I used a filler to smooth out the metal house numbers. The back of the sign was completely flat and plain. The front had such character so I decided to fill the front. There are several products you could use. Check out the details on the blog of which one I selected.
Next step was to smooth out the surface. I left it rather rough for texture and then painted using my favorite color milk paint!
I fabricated a sturdy base on which to attach the sign and the baskets.
Then I spray painted and attached the baskets with one of my favorite tools!
A quick trip to Home Depot's garden center scored these fragrant herbs and some other supplies to plant my garden.
