Here is some good advice moth balls. Put a couple in a small container near your vegetables
Mix 1 cup of Sugar,3 Tablespoons of Borax. 3 cups of warm water.Soak cotton balls. Put in lids in garden. This will draw the ants to the mixture. They will eat the mixture. The borax will kill them. Or you can mix 1 part Baking Soda and 1 part powdered Sugar.Put in jar lids, and sit next to ant mounds.
Find someone who grooms dogs, have them save you enough old dirty hair to spread around in your garden it keeps just about everything from messing around in there ... you can also sprinkle ground cinnamon at the base of the plants.. It works great on the ants around here in NC
do to use moth balls...that is poison which you will ingest.....http://homeguides.sfgate.com/keep-ants-away-tomato-plant-22351.html
Try planting some Marigolds in your garden area. They look pretty and have a smell that most garden bugs don't like and stay away from. I am not sure about the ants but I know it works for all other garden bugs.
Put some flour in a sieve and shake around your plant and watch the ants dissapear, they even take their larve with them. For some reason they hate flour. The dog hair in some old panty hose legs tied in your garden on sticks gets rid of the rabbits.
