Hi Deb, sorry you are dealing with fleas. Be careful what you put on your pet, be sure to check with your vet first please. Be sure to vacuum every day and dump your sweeper outside in trash. It would be best if you talked to your vet and got the drops that go on their neck (use every month). Please don't buy the cheap stuff sold at walmart etc, some of these can hurt or kill your pet. Nothing you can make will fully control fleas. You need to control and treat at the same time. Vacuum constantly and remove sweeper bag or empty immediately. A female flea can lay HUNDREDS of eggs in her life time. If 50 percent are females you have a major infestation. Your best bet is to go the vet and get flea medication. Yes it is expensive but worth it. I have had animals my entire life and NONE of the nonsense you read like cinnamon etc work. You need to get the meds that do not allow the eggs mature, hatch, mate and start the cycle over.

Fleas can be repellend with orange and lemon oils, a mix of Brewer's Yeast and garlic in your dog's food, and planting pennyroyal in your yard. Dried pennyroyal leaves can be sewn into net bags and placed in your dog's pet bed.
