I don't have a squirrel problem and I hang my bird feeders off of the tall garden stakes with the hooks. Of course, we have more rabbits than squirrels.Helpful Reply -

I sprinkle the bird seeds with hot pepper (any type). The birds don't seem to mind but the squirrels don't like it. They then generally leave it alone. Must continue with pepper or they will be back🙁Helpful Reply -

I add a tablespoon of hot chilli powder to 6KG of bird feed. Squirrels, rats and mice don't like it and move on. It doesn't harm the birds at allHelpful Reply -

I have mine on shepherds hooks and they can't get up them and they are just far enough from my lilacs that they can't jump. The chipmunks and squirrels and the occasional mallard duck keep some of the fallen seed taken care of. I tried a suet block with hot peppers in it and it has not been touched by any of the birds we have at our feeders. Not the same for the peanut one I put out, it was gone within a week.Helpful Reply -
