How do I keep the big black ants off of my hydrangea?

    Sometimes when you see ants on these plants it is because they are eating aphids. Get a bottle of "ortho" bug-b-gone concentrate and a tank sprayer, follow directions on the bottle.

    Sprinkle cornmeal around the outside base and don’t like it it will kill them

    check for other insects that may be there,some times that is a indication of a infestation.

    they are polinators of some plants and are needed in plant world I'd leave them alone unless they are biting you. Cornmeal won't kill them it's a myth-hogwash! unless you mix with boric acid. They might be drawn to plant if it has aphids because the aphids create a sweet sap type liquid that the ants will collect. Ants don't eat solid matter(ants,cornmeal) they can only eat liquid, they collect plant/organic matter take it to nest where it is converted to liquids to feed on.
