I use hedge apples to keep spiders away. They hate the smell -

Mix one part bleach and two parts lemon scented dish soap. Spray around windows and doors. Plus any pipes (like under your sink) and anything else you can think of. -

Maintain a dry climate. You may need to use a dehumidifier. Vacuum regularly. This will help with your other treatments. -

In MO we have lots of brown recluses which have a poisonous bite. I probably bring them inside in the fall in pots of house plants. I coexist with glue traps in corners, along walls, and under furniture. Sometimes I hunt them down at night with a bright light.
