How to get rid of ants.

Question

I have little black ants in the bathroom coming out of an interior wall. i have tried several things and it doesn't phase them. I need something pet safe.

What things have you tried? If stomping was one of those I can see why that didn't work. Really helps us to narrow recommendations by not telling you to do something you have already tried. I like a product called 'Terro'.

Terro. It is a product that looks like corn syrup. The ants carry it back to the nest and that is the end. It is NOT pet friendly. Put it down and shut the door so pets don't have access to that room. After a day or two remove the old Terro and everything should be fine.

You can purchase Diatomaceous Earth. This is organic powder like product made of crushed shells and coral. It cuts insects with a exoskeleton causing them to dehydrate and then die. It is safe for pets and children. Works great! The only issue is if they are in the walls they would only come in contact with it when they come out. I think maybe you should also put Terro traps out so they carry the poison back to their nest. They sell ones that you can stock on the wall, so it would stay out of reach for your pets. I found this one for you: https://www.thecountrychiccottage.net/eliminate-ants-naturally/ Also, I've heard (no idea if it works) grating up Irish Spring soap (with a cheese grater, obviously) and leaving it in the problematic area steers away the offending insect.

you have to treat outside as well and find the source of how they are getting in. Apply food grade diatomacous earth around the foundation. Spray around all windows and entrances with a pet safe ant control.

I get Terro from the my local farm supply store. What I like about this product is that it kills all common household ants. The stuff lasts for years and isn't expensive.

If you can... Get the ant traps..place them way in the back of cupboards..or the ant paste. Combat.. It goes in drawers. About 2' line paste. Above floor or under counters.

packaged cornbread mix that says it is sweetened and put it where they are coming in if you can find it, or even on your counter in a small lid. They will take it to the mound, everyone will eat it and die, they can't digest the cornmeal, but will take it because it is sweetened. Little goes a long way.
