Start by checking for ant hills outside your house. They can be found in sidewalk cracks and dirt piles. Spray with an insect spray for ants. Spray the ant hills, and anywhere you find ants. Next, if their in the house, buy some ant traps, place then on the counter. Ants will go back to the nest, and bring the poison with them. Don't kill an ant at any time, let them find the traps. When you kill the ant hills, then you'll see they stop coming. Wait at least a week before you throw away the traps.

I also use Ortho Home Defence in and outside. It is safe for humans and pets. Pets make sure it is dry. I have used it for years with my dogs. I have never had issues. Works great.

Here is a website shows you how to get rid of ants naturally.

  • This is the most effective method we use. Good luck!

    My go to ant killer--
    1/2 cup hot water
    1 cup sugar
    1 Tbsp Borax
Mix together and saturate cotton balls in bottle caps with the mixture. Place in ant trails. They will carry it back to the hill and destroy them all in a few days.

This trick just got rid of every single ant in my home and has kept them away for nearly 4months now and has worked in everyone's home I have told this to. Redo this if needed after time but I've yet needed to repeat this process. Take a paper towel and fold lengthwise intil it's a strip you will be able to wedge between your counters and border. Between the floors and base boards as well. Using a spray bottle with warm water and bleach soak the paper towels and leave them for a whole day or overnight. Obviously, if you have carpeting you cannot get bleach on without ruining it or have sensitivity to bleach this trick may not be for you but it works. Also keep any pets away while treating your problem areas. Always clean your kitchen after cooking or spilling anything that would attract ants which is pretty much anything.

There is an ant killer called TERRO that you can buy at Lowes. After I used it, the ants disappeared.
