You might not like this idea, but some people use black pepper sprinkled around the area you don't want them in. Usually cats mark the places they been to alert other cats there A.S.L. age sex location. Sort of a email. So that's why they'll revisit the same spots. Black pepper should cause them to sneeze but it should keep them out. Also take sticky size up will keep them from perching .

Cayenne pepper sprinkled down will work as well!

We got a repellent that is solar powered. It is called Volador Humane Repeller. I was skeptical that it would work but it did, the cats that were lurking around our plants and using them as their litter box are not doing it anymore.

There is a product by Bonide called Repels-All available from Amazon and Home Depot that may work. You will have to reapply after a heavy rain, but it does seem to work. (Home Depot site here: http://www.homedepot.com/s/repels%2520all?NCNI-5

There is a motion activated water sprinkler that you can set up. It makes a sprinkler noise and sprays water. That might discourage the cats enough to make them steer clear of your yard.
