It appears to be in an area where you would not be concerned about the method used would also make it difficult for something else to grow in its place so I will suggest salt. I have also used it as a weed n grass killer but only in areas where you don't want something else to grow ( such as patios, driveways, etc.)Helpful Reply -

It would make such a beautiful feature and there are quite a few plants that would love feeding off the left over stump. They normally rot from the inside out and they provide loads of nutrients while they're rotting. If it's a shady area you can add ferns or hostas and a creeper will thrive if it's in a sunny area. We planted a clematis in one of ours and she loves it. Just hollow the inside of the stump out a little to fit the plant and fill with compost and some soil.Helpful Reply -
