How do I make DIY weed killer that won't hurt my flowers?

HI Sandy,

There is nothing out there that knows the difference between weeds and flowers, what you can do is use white vinegar and put a protective barrier, such as cardboard between the weed/flower edge. The white vinegar does the killing.

The safest method is to hand pull the weeds, this is more easily done after rain or watering.

You can also put down physical barriers to block weed growth-newspaper, fabric to control weed growth, cardboard, mulch-to name a few.

Best to you.

Weeding flower beds works best and then applying a layer of much to keep them from coming back.

Sandy.....Vinegar and epsom salt and Dawn will work. Fill a spray bottle with vinegar, add 1/2 cup salt and little Dawn. Good luck...works great for me

Do not use the vinegar, Epsom salt in the garden. It will kill everything. Anything you use will also kill everything. Best solution is to lay down some landscape fabric and cover with 2 to 3 inches of mulch.

I agree, most flowers will be effected by any weed killers.
