What is a foolproof way to keep deer out of my yard?

Deer can jump quite high, so are not challenged by the average fence. Locally, we put "deer fencing" - a plastic mesh net - around plants we don't want to lose. The garden centers sell plants that "deer don't like" but unfortunately the baby deer eat your whole plant before deciding that yeah, deer don't like that plant.I don't want deer on the patio. I was told that deer jump high, but not wide. So I block the patio access by putting garden chairs there, and be sure there is no easy walk through. It takes a few minutes in the morning and evening, but I have not had deer on the patio since. The chairs are only, what, 3 feet high? but they are also wide and deer do not jump wide when they can avoid it. See if your local herd feel the same way.Helpful Reply -

Urine. It sounds gross, but it works. Usually you can purchase Fox Urine granules from Home Depot or Lowes. This helps to keep the deer away-- they think they smell predators. We have a farm, and the deer will still get close if they are that dehydrated, but for the most part, this keeps them out.Helpful Reply -

What works for me is to have a friendly, but 'this yard is mine' dog who will bark at anything that approaches their turf.Helpful Reply -
