We are firm believers in vinyl siding; we put it on our home in 1969 when it first was on the market and when we sold the home in 1980 it was still as good as new. Never had to do anything to it except wash it with water from a garden hose and a long handled brush for making sure the birds' deposits were all scrubbed off. We bought another home in late 1980 and immediately added on another bedroom, enclosed porch, garage, and large pantry then totally covered everything with vinyl siding. Today it's still nice and bright and all we do is spray it to clean it. People say there is a downside to vinyl siding but after 38 years we cannot find anything wrong with it. Never needs painting, if it gets bumped there are no dents left in it, if it gets scraped by tree branches, kids, etc. there is never any discoloration as the color goes all the way through it, there is no way a scratch can start rusting, and it is so easy to keep clean. For us elderly folks (hubby is 77 & I'm 72) it's the only siding to have.
